Welcome to
the fifth Shootmania Monthly Mapping Contest (MMC), 4th of September 2013, hosted by
ManiaExchange.
In the MMC, your task is to build a ShootMania map on a given theme (see below). All of the submissions will be added to our
official MMC server, which will be open to the public and is where our judges will play and judge the maps to find a winner.
The Details
Let's have a look at the details of the contest:
Theme of the month: Speedball with focus on objects.
Your task is to build a
Speedball map with extra focus on the
custom objects. You will gain more points based on not only the amount of objects you have but also on your creative use of the objects.
The Speedball title pack includes lots of very interesting custom objects, such as fortress objects, platform objects placable words and more.
Tip: You can spin any object using - or + on numpad for horizontally, and even use arrow keys to rotate them vertically.
Speedball is a team-based gamemode containing a ball which you have to score at the opponents pole. When holding the ball you can pass it around to your teammates by shooting them while holding the ball.
To validate your map you need to have at least one spawn per team, and one pole per team and one checkpoint in the middle.
IMPORTANT:
The Speedball title pack is available at the manialink "speedball". You have to create your map using the editor inside this title pack.

For more information about this gamemode you may
read about it on the ManiaPlanet forums..

)
The rules:
Build a
Speedball map in the Speedball title pack. You need at least 2 spawns and 2 poles.
Try to come up with something creative in the editor using the custom objects, you can find them under the little "tree" icon in the editor. More points will be given on the creative use of the objects.
Max. 1 map per author. Single author per map.
Blockmixing/Unlimiter is
NOT allowed.
Include the sequence of letters "MMC" somewhere in the map name so that it can be easily found on Mania Exchange.
The map must have been uploaded to the exchange before September 28th 2013 00:00 GMT (September 28th 23:59:59 is OK).
You may update your map as many times as you like, but you will have to post in the submissions topic what you updated in it.
Please make a whole new post in the submissions thread for each updated version of the map.
A number of judges will rate the maps on the following topics:
Design – Layout. Did the author really think about where to place certain blocks? Scenery, the general "feel" of the map. The maps should be playable for beginners too.
Max 15 points/judge
Creativity – The creativity of the map itself, stuff that you don't usually see, creative ideas, those kind of things.
Max. 10 points/judge
Fun Factor – Depending on how fun the judges find your map, a few extra points can be given.
Max 10 points/judge
Theme – How well does your map follow the theme? Did the author place just a few barely noticeable objects or were the objects useful, or used in a never seen before combination, etc.
Max 15 points/judge
Important: To enter a map, simply upload it and post a link to your submission in this linked topic.
We still need volunteer judges for the MMCs. To volunteer as a judge, please send a PM to Basbaas!
(Note: We can't simply accept anyone. You have to be familiar enough with the game, the editor and the gameplay. We need trustworthy, reliable and committed judges. Don't worry, it's a lot of fun too! )
o Judges should be able to join our server and play the maps together at a time they agree.
o The set time for this should be announced so that map builders and the community can also join the party!
o The server will still be open for anyone (including judges) to join and play at other times.
Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
